Tryouts
Panther Creek golf is earned on the scorecard. Tryouts are qualifying rounds — and the summer you put in before them counts.
1 · Play the summer
Compete in real tournaments all summer. Every qualifying round you post earns strokes off your tryout score.
2 · Get cleared
A current physical must be on file (Frisco ISD's Rank One portal) before you can tee it up. No physical, no tryout.
3 · Qualify at tryouts
Tryouts are stroke-play qualifying rounds. Your adjusted scores decide the roster — varsity and JV, boys and girls.
The Summer Advantage
Tournament rounds take strokes off your tryout score.
For each qualifying tournament round you play in the summer window (May through tryout day), you earn a reduction based on what you shot. Play more, earn more — the players grinding all summer walk into tryouts with a real edge.
Per qualifying round
- 100 or greater
- −1 stroke
- Under 100
- −2 strokes
- Under 90
- −3 strokes
- Under 80
- −4 strokes
- Even par or better
- −5 strokes
For a round to count, it must be…
- An NTPGA, TJGT, AAT, AJGA, or HJGT event — or any individual event played from traditional high-school distances
- An 18-hole event (every round of a multi-round tournament may be entered)
- An individual event — no team or match-play formats
- Played during the summer qualifying window
- Posted to an online leaderboard that can be linked on the tracking sheet
Track your rounds on the summer tournament sheet — ask Coach Garrigus for your copy, log each event with its linked leaderboard, and your total strokes subtracted are applied at tryouts.
